Hiker rescued after two days on mountain

Published: July 30, 2005

Cape Town Metro Rescue Services rescued a hiker who was trapped for two days on Table Mountain, SABC news said on Saturday.

According to the report, the man went missing in overcast conditions.

Helicopters could not be used because of the clouds and the cable car was also inoperable.

When the clouds eventually lifted, a helicopter was sent to lift him off the mountain.

He sustained a broken arm and bruised ribs, and was in a stable condition at Groote Schuur Hospital, the report said.
