The 20-year-old man was climbing in an area referred to as the “S” curve when he fell.
Witnesses say the area where the man fall was very jagged.
“The gentleman had taken approximately a 40 to 50 foot fall from the rock face,” said Robert Burton with the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
Fortunately the man was hiking with four friends. One person went down the canyon where he could get cell phone service to call 911. The others friends stayed with the victim.
It took about two and a half hours for crews to locate and then carry the victim down the side of the mountain.
The man was transported to an area hospital in stable condition, with broken bones and minor scrapes.
