City library reading club showcases local heroes

Published: July 24, 2005

The Woodland Library’s Summer Reading Club will feature “Super Readers are Super Heroes” today.

Library officials have invited two of the most visible community hero groups - police and firefighters - to the Library from 10 to 11 a.m. today.

Representatives from the Fire Department and the Police Department will be at the north parking lot of the Woodland Public Library to answer children’s questions and let them see their vehicles up close.

Heroes come in all sizes and shapes. At the Library, there are books on real people who are heroes, such as community heroes, animal heroes, heroes in history and children who are heroes. They also have books on imaginary heroes in books and mythology, as well as books on comic book superheroes. Come to the Library and enjoy the exciting variety of books to choose from.

The Community Heroes event on Saturday is the fifth week’s program for the Summer Reading Club at Woodland Public Library. Their final summer program will be Tuesday, July 26, at 4 p.m., when the teen volunteers will entertain us with a skit based on the Captain Underpants books.
