2 Rescued From Blaze
Published: July 24, 2005
Prince George’s County firefighters rescued two people from third-floor balconies during a two-alarm fire on Saturday in Temple Hills.
Fire and EMS spokesman Mark Brady says more than 75 firefighters and paramedics were called to put out the blaze, which began about 11 a.m. at the Chesnut Hill Apartments.
Brady says two residents were unable to escape because of intense heat and smoke, so firefighters used ladders to rescue them.
He says none of the residents was injured, but one firefighter suffered burns to his ears and another had heat exhaustion.
Residents living in 22 apartments have been displaced by the blaze.
Damage from the fire is estimated at $250,000 and the cause is under investigation.
