Teacher reunited with wallet three decades later
Published: July 2, 2005
Susan Bondy got a reminder on the cost of inflation when construction workers at a Dallas middle school found the wallet she didn’t know she had lost more than 35 years ago.
The wallet, with her first checkbook inside, was a flashback to 1969.
Bondy says she probably didn’t have any money in it because she was a new teacher back then.
She made 58-hundred dollars a year and paid 70 dollars a month for rent.
The wallet was found between a cabinet and wall in a wood shop classroom at Robert T. Hill Middle School.
Life was different then for students.
Bondy says that if students got caught chewing gum just once, they were gone for a week. She asks — “Have things changed or what?”
