Deliveryman Rescues Man From Burning Car

A Bethlehem Township man who was asleep in a burning car was rescued Friday morning by a Morning Call deliveryman who woke the man and got him out of the vehicle, township police said.

Police said Derek Taylor, of 104 Commonwealth Drive was asleep in his car at the Keystone Pub parking lot, 3259 Easton Ave., with a fire under the car.

Glenn Grube of Allentown was driving by the pub at 3:45 a.m. Friday when he saw the fire, went to the car and noticed Taylor asleep inside, police said. Grube opened the door, woke up Taylor and helped get him escape, police said.

The fire, which is under investigation, destroyed the car, but no one was injured.
