Woman wins $20,000 in lottery

Published: June 16, 2005

Martina Fox is the newest winner of the top cash prize in the Kansas Lottery’s $2 Bonus Crossword instant game. The 41-year-old Pratt woman claimed her $20,000 prize this week at the Lottery’s Great Bend office.

“I play Bonus Crossword quite a bit,” said Fox. “My mom and I get together at a convenience store almost every day. We drink pop and play scratch tickets.”

Fox said until now the most she had won playing instant tickets was $100, which she won last month, also on the $2 Bonus Crossword game.

“I’m feeling pretty lucky right now,” Fox said. “So I bought myself a Powerball ticket!”

Fox and her husband, Terry, have two grown children and a 16-year-old daughter at home. Fox says the family has been looking at new homes and will likely use the winnings for a down payment on a house.

Fox purchased her winning ticket at the Kwik Shop located at 116 S. Washington in Pratt
