100 y.o. does birthday chartiy

Published: June 15, 2005

Beatrice Thompson saw her 100th birthday last week as a good opportunity to raise money for charity.

Ms Thompson marked her century by spending one day with great niece Hazel Coalings, niece Rosemary Peverall and goddaughter Mary Poole and the next at a party for the residents in the sheltered housing scheme where she lives.

A resident at Highfield Court in Stevenage, Ms Thompson said: “I have had a lovely time. But I am too old for presents so I have asked people to make donations to the Garden House Hospice in Letchworth GC.”
