American Tourists Rescued From Drifting Ice-Floe in Russia’s Arctic
Published: June 6, 2005
Russian rescuers have got two American tourists off the drifting ice-floe in Russia’s Arctic, Interfax news agency reported.
The tourists, 44 and 34 years old, traveled since May 10 on skis and in a boat there and planned to go from Cape Arktichesky across the North Pole to Canada, but decided to stop the travel between Cape Arktichesky and the North Pole and asked to take them from the route because of difficult ice conditions and a drift in their direction.
Two Mi-8 helicopters took tourists to the city of Norilsk. Both feel satisfactory.
