Children’s Miracle Network telethon raises $305,938

Published: June 5, 2005

A local 10-hour telethon netted the Children’s Miracle Network $305,938 for ill and injured children treated by Rapid City Regional Hospital.

At the 17th annual CMN Celebration Broadcast, organizers and volunteers staffed phone lines, pledge tables and reception tables from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Rushmore Mall. News Center 1/KNBN and PAX televised the benefit.

Angie Kliewer, fundraising director for the Rapid City Regional Hospital Foundation, said that nationwide, every CMN hospital raised money from a televised 10-hour telethon.

“We celebrate every single dollar that is pledged or donated,” she said.

Kliewer said that many of the volunteers came from “Miracle” families to help with the event and to share their stories. CMN buys medical equipment and funds programs for children’s services at Regional. All of the money raised locally stays in the area.
