Pensioner’s joy as plants return
Published: June 3, 2005
A 67-year-old pensioner whose stolen plant pots were returned to her says the police community support officers are her heroes.
The woman from Mudford, Somerset, was given the pots by her late husband but they were stolen in May.
Officers located the plants and pots in a nearby field for the woman, who wishes to remain anonymous.
She said: “I am calling them my heroes. It may seem silly to some but they had sentimental value.”
The woman explained she did not want to be identified because she is concerned the thieves might return and steal the plants again.
“I was so pleased seeing the officers coming across the garden with the pots,” she said.
Police community support officer Lee Aston said: “It was very rewarding to see the smile on the lady’s face when we returned the plants to her.”
