65-year-old rescued after 50-foot hiking fall
Published: May 31, 2005
A 65-year-old man is in stable condition after being rescued overnight from the mountainside where he fell while hiking Sunday.
Martin Eizenberg and a friend were hiking up the south side of Quandary Peak, near Breckenridge, when he fell. The two were about 500 feet from the summit when Eizenberg slipped on some rocks and dropped about 50 feet.
Crews were able to bring him off the mountain around 1 a.m. Monday. Rescuers had a difficult time because of the difficult terrain along with snow and lightning in the area.
Eizenberg is being treated at St. Anthony’s Hospital for injuries to his shoulders, ribs and possibly a broken leg.
