Young Cerebral Palsy Patient Donates To Locks Of Love

Published: May 26, 2005

With just days before her birthday, a local girl is giving a very special gift, instead of receiving one.

11 year-old Lila Forister has had great success dealing with her cerebral palsy.
Now the young girl says she wants to help others with health conditions.

It started three years ago, when Forister heard about the organization, Locks of Love.
That’s when she decided she wanted to help young cancer victims.

She began getting her hair cut in order to provide hairpieces.
She says she simply wanted to help others and was not concerned that it would cost her ten inches of her hair.

Forister says her act of kindness is out of love for kids.
Also an uncle who died of cancer, as well as another relative currently battling breast cancer.

Lila’s been treated for cerebral palsy since the age of five.
Her mother says she has overcome alot in her young life, enough to give this young girl a big smile and an even bigger heart.

Lila’s mother says, “I am proud of her and it just touches me to know she is my daughter and doing a good deed of helping others.”
“She has truly been a miracle child with a lot of compassion.”

The 11 year-old takes daily medication but in most ways functions like any other child.

The hair she donates will help Locks of Love provide hairpieces for children with cancer and other medical conditions.
