Religion seems to be no boundary when you visit the 700-year-old mosque of Hazrat Baba Vilayat at Phule Nagar in Uttar Pradesh. Devotees irrespective of their religion throng this mosque in huge numbers everyday.
The mosque is well known for its special cardamom tree. They say that witnessing the cardamom seeds falling during the winters is divine. Devotees consider them as ‘Prasad’, and it is believed to cure diseases, besides fulfilling ones wishes. Every year people wait for the winters to arrive, which gives them an opportunity to get their wishes fulfilled. They eagerly wait for this season to come.
Surprisingly, Scorpions, who are known to bite, do not bite anyone at this mosque.
“This mosque is around 700 years old, which has been named after Hazrat Baba Ali Shah, who hailed from Iraq. Here even the Scorpions don’t bite anybody, people witness the fact everyday. People had carried scorpions from different places, which did not inject its venom on this sacred place. Moreover, cardamom seeds fall from a tree in winter season and are expected as ‘Prasad’. Not only this but the wishes of most of the devotees also come true here,” said Sufi Akram, a local.
Pilgrims from various parts of the country and even some foreign pilgrims come here to get all their wishes fulfilled.
“I had prayed to God to clear my exams and since I have cleared them, I have come here to offer a ‘chadar’ to baba,” said Shahana Khatoon, a devout.
