29 child labourers rescued in Kovai

Labour department officials today rescued 29 children engaged in Kovai ( Coimbatore) as labourers during raids carried out in various shops in the city.
Raids were conducted in over 200 commercial establishments, hotels, bakeries and eateries on Sullivan Street and surrounding areas, official sources said.
Meanwhile, seven children managed to escape while being brought to a common place.
Steps would be taken to rehabilitate the rescued children like sending them to schools, they added.
