Students provide bandaid support for charity

Published: March 19, 2005

Tamworth West Public School’s SRC kicked off their year’s fundraising efforts with Bandaged Bear Day yesterday.

The day raised much needed funds for The Children’s Hospital at Westmead with all students coming to school with a bandage on, many decorated, and paying for the privilege.

School Representative Council treasurer Roman Jurd filled his tin with gold coins as students donated for the worthy cause and raised $75 with more to come.

There was judging of the bandages by canteen supervisor Mrs Tolmie from 9.15am with prizes from the canteen awarded in each stage.

Bandaged Bear is the mascot of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.

This is the 16th year of the event and the hospital is aiming to raise more than $750,000 from the campaign with all proceeds going directly to the Hospital.

Bandaged Bears and associated merchandise will be on sale until March 31 for this worthy charity.
