Boy rescued after mine fall

A seven-year-old boy had to be rescued by firefighters after plunging 15ft into old mine workings in Midlothian.
The boy got into difficulties after the ground collapsed underneath him while he tried to reach a football which fell into a hole in a field in Gorebridge.
Rescuers used ropes to reach the child before he was taken to hospital and treated for gas inhalation.
