Lost dog returned to Heritage Center

Published: February 14, 2005

Residents and staff of Heritage Center were happily reunited Friday with Copper, a 4-year-old golden retriever missing since Tuesday morning.

“He was found because of the article you (The Herald-Dispatch) ran (Friday),” said John Gibson, admissions director at Heritage Center, a personal care home located along 13th Street. “A lady opened up the paper, read it and called us.”

Gibson said Copper was found by a Chesapeake, Ohio, area resident near where he had disappeared. Copper, a frequent visitor at Heritage Center, received a rousing reception Friday from residents and staff.

“They cheered for him when he came in,” Gibson said. “He’s back, he’s happy and he’s safe.”
