Stranded dolphin rescued

Published: February 3, 2005

Residents in Tasmania’s north-west have worked with parks and wildlife rangers to rescue a female dolphin stranded at Leith Beach near Ulverstone.

The dolphin was discovered yesterday evening stranded on rocks.

Parks and wildlife ranger Anthony Timmerman says the dolphin was injected with antibiotics and adrenalins before being towed out to sea.

“It was just before dark, myself and a local bloke got her out in deeper waters, past the breakers and set her on her way,” he said.

“She went like a rocket, hopefully rejoined the pod and is out doing what dolphins do.”
