Cat rescued from triplex unit fire

A cat was rescued from a Peterborough triplex unit after a kitchen fire Tuesday afternoon.

Just after 3 p.m., Peterborough firefighters responded to a Lisburn Street triplex. A cat suffering mild smoke inhalation was rescued from a unit.

All tenants escaped without injury. The Disaster Trust Fund provided accommodation and assistance to the tenants.

The fire was confined to the unit’s kitchen but resulted in extensive smoke damage to the rest of the unit. Damage is estimated at $40,000 to the building and $15,000 to contents.

Firefighters continues to investigate the cause of the fire.
