Adopted siblings reunited in US

Published: October 10, 2004

Two families who adopted Chinese children and brought them to separate homes in Arizona and Alabama have discovered that the toddlers are siblings and almost certainly twins.

Three-year-old XiMei was reunited with her brother TaoTao when the two families found each other after linking up on a website offering support for families who adopted children from China.

They realised their children were about the same age, were found abandoned on the same day, and both had cleft palates.

DNA tests confirmed with 98 per cent accuracy that the toddlers shared at least one parent.
