Sleeping kids rescued from carbon monoxide-filled home

Published: October 9, 2004

Brockton firefighters rescued four sleeping children from a carbon monoxide-filled home in Brockton yesterday after their mother reported a disoriented family member and odors in the home.

When firefighters arrived, the woman and her boyfriend were outside the home and four children ages 4 months to 14 were sleeping inside.

The family was taken to local hospitals for evaluation. The names of the family members have not been released, Deputy Fire Chief Robert Manning said.

Firefighters said the carbon monoxide came from a power generator in the basement of the home. The carbon monoxide reading in the home was 500 parts per million. Nine parts per million or less is considered normal, Manning said.
