Mom reunited with kidnapped newborn

A 20-year-old woman was reunited with her four-day-old son after the child was kidnapped by a woman who befriended her, Western Cape police said.
The woman took her son for medical treatment at the Kraaifontein day hospital on Saturday morning.
There she met and befriended a 19-year-old woman who accompanied her to a food store in van Riebeek road, Captain Billy Jones said.
The woman offered to look after the child while his mother went into the store to buy cooldrink.
When she returned, the two had disappeared.
Police were notified and, responding to information supplied by the mother and staff at the hospital, later found the woman and the baby on a farm in Philadelphia.
The baby was unharmed.
The teenager was arrested and will appear in the Kuilsriver magistrate’s court on a charge of abduction on Monday.
Police urged parents not to place their children in the care of strangers.
