Siblings who fled from stepdad rescued
Published: October 2, 2004
Police have rescued two siblings who managed to escape from the clutches of their abusive stepfather.
Personnel in a patrol car spotted the children, a 10-year-old boy and his eight-year-old sister, walking aimlessly at the town centre here at 6.30am yesterday.
The siblings told the policemen that they had fled from their home as they could no longer endure the purported physical torture.
OCPD Supt Zull Aznam Haron said police had arrested the 45-year-old stepfather at his home in Taman Indah, here.
He said the two siblings were sent to the Tampin hospital where several scars and bruises were found on them.
It is learnt that the siblings were also scalded with hot water on numerous occasions and some old scars were also detected on them.
The siblings made their escape when their stepfather was fast asleep on Wednesday and spent a day wandering around before being rescued.
