Luncheon of Hope
Published: October 2, 2004
Over 400 people turned out Friday to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness month. The twelfth annual Luncheon of Hope took place at the Valhalla Inn.
Breast cancer survivors, their friends and families and local businesses joined to raise awareness about breast cancer. Displays were also set up to let residents know about local groups and organizations available to those living with cancer. Guest speaker was 580 CKPR’s Laurie Langcastor. She shared her outlook on the challenge of dealing with breast cancer.
Money raised at the luncheon will go to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation and the local Breast Cancer Support Group.
Other events taking place in October include the CIBC Run For The Cure and the Cancer Society’s ‘Taking Steps’ event.
