Driver rescued from blazing car

A driver was rescued from his car which burst into flames after it was hit by a car police were following.
Lancashire Police say a Vauxhall Astra drove through a red light just before 1am on Saturday at the junction of Every Street and Carr Street in Nelson.
It crashed into a Toyota Corolla, which caught fire when it smashed into a signal box. A man has been arrested.
The Corolla driver suffered facial burns. The Independent Police Complaints Commission is investigating.
Blazing Car
A Lancashire police spokeswoman said the Astra was seen “driving at speed” through a red light by a marked police car.
“It collided with a Toyota Corolla pushing it into the signal box causing it to set alight,” the spokeswoman said.
“The driver had to be dragged from the vehicle.”
He was treated for burns to his face at Burnley General Hospital.
