Children rescued in porn raid

Published: September 30, 2004

Seven children in Brisbane being abused by a pedophile were rescued as part of a nationwide police operation targeting child pornography.

The children all lived in one area of Brisbane had been systematically abused over a number of years by a pedophile who lived in the same area, police said.

The head of Queensland’s own anti-paedophile police group, Task Force Argos, Detective Inspector Brian Huxley said the children, aged from five to 13, had been identified through pictures found on a seized computer taken from the man’s home.

“I don’t think that these children would have been spared this abuse if it hadn’t been for the fact that they were identified now,” Detective Inspector Huxley said.

“I don’t want to over dramatise it but really they have been rescued from further abuse.”
