Give a part of you

Published: September 27, 2004

Locks of Love seems like a well-kept secret that is revealed annually. But for Great Clips shops across South Carolina, the cause is worth fighting for all year long.

Locks of Love helps provide hairpieces for children who have lost their own hair because of illness.

The first Wednesday of each month, Great Clips collects hair for Locks of Love. If you give 10 or more inches, your cut is free. If you can’t get a professional cut, you can donate hair on your own. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:

• Hair has to be natural and at least 10 inches long.

• Send clean, dry hair in a plastic bag and padded envelope with the hair in a ponytail or braid.

• Hair can be permed or colored, but not bleached or chemically damaged.

• Curly hair should be pulled straight when measured.

For more tips and information on where to send or how to receive hair, go to www.locksoflove.org or call (888) 896-1588.
