Heroes fought to save family
Published: September 25, 2004
Police have hailed as heroes neighbours who braved raging flames to try to save a family from a fire that claimed a toddler’s life in the Sydney suburb of Campsie on Friday night.
The charred body of two-year-old Sarang Son - whose first name means “love” in Korean - was found inside the Unara Rd unit after the blaze was extinguished.
Her older brothers Tim (Han Ju), 7, and Paul (Suk Ju), 8, and parents Sung Gu and Mira, were fighting for their lives in hospital last night.
All four remain in “very critical” condition in burns units at Concord Hospital and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
Mr Son’s 22-year-old brother, who asked not to be named, told The Sunday Telegraph he had visited the children and their parents.
