Toledo’s swimming and diving team rallied together to support cause.
The University of Toledo women’s swimming and diving team joined forces with an estimated 12,000 other participants in the annual Susan G. Komen “Race for the Cure.” The 5K walk/run took place on Sunday, Sept. 19 in downtown Toledo.
“It was a fantastic day,” Toledo Head Coach and `Race for the Cure’ participant Lars Jorgensen said. “The weather was beautiful, and we were happy to be supporting a great cause.”
The “Race for the Cure” is an annual event for breast cancer survivors and their family and friends to gather and support the cause of breast cancer awareness. Some of the participants also walk or run in memory of those who have lost the battle to breast cancer.
The women’s swimming and diving team paid their $20 fee, put on their running shoes and showed their support for the community.
“It was a great opportunity for us to get involved with such a noble organization,” said Jorgensen. “Not only did we show our support, but we also got in a good workout for the day!”
