A FAMILY of six were rescued by neighbours following a fire at their home early today.
The neighbours, a father and son plus two others, pitched a ladder against a first-floor window and staged a dramatic rescue of four children and two adults in the house in Little Eversden.
Dad Mark Smith said: “I would like to thank the people who rescued us. If it wasn’t for them coming so quickly we would not have got out.
“The whole house is black, we don’t know yet where we will stay.”
His wife Sarah and their four children Megan, eight, Joshua, six, Sian, four, and Rebecca, one, were also rescued.
Lorraine Bidwell, who lives opposite, said: “We heard them screaming ‘dial 999′, a neighbour came running and put up a ladder, they rescued the three girls and the boy and their parents.
