Woman rescued from balcony
Published: September 4, 2003
Emergency services rescued a woman from the balcony of an Auckland District Health Board building which caught fire today.
She was one of up to 60 people inside the old junior doctors’ residence - used as a planning base for transition to the new Auckland City Hospital - when fire broke out in the kitchen at 2.30pm.
Smoke filled the four-storey building on Grafton Rd and the young woman became trapped on the first level, a hospital spokeswoman said. She was not injured.
