charity adopts Siamese twins
Published: August 23, 2003
Sohna and Mohna were given up, abandoned, by their parents upon birth. They simply do not have the financial means to take care of them. See, Sohna and Mohna are Siamese twins.
Newspapers ran a story about them and shortly after the Pingalwara Society came forward. 35 days later the children were officially placed in their care.
[Chairperson of the All India Pigalwara Society, Dr Inderjit Kaur:] “Our organisation has this as its central mission - to care for those abandoned by society”
The society is active in many fields with the end result always being Hope.
Pingalwara’s wing for children’s care, provides an umbrella of hope to scores of physically and mentally challenged children, even teenagers. There are separate wards for the aged, the terminally ill and other sections. [...] “In this age, everything has become commercialised. Education is so expensive - where do the poor go to study ? In government schools, the teachers are not sincere to their duties. We have started a school in the slum area which provides free education. A few kind-hearted people who are our donors, have even provided uniforms for the children.”
