Runners pay piper charity

Published: August 21, 2003

Charity events don’t have to be big time, big bucks, to provide a lot of money. 200 runners in Cheltenham raised 500 english pounds as part of a four-day event organised by the Prince of Wales Stadium in aid of the Pied Piper Appeal.

“We hope to raise an extra £200 or £300 through sponsorship by the end of the month on top of the money we’ve raised so far.”

The Pied Piper Appeal raises funds in to help sick children in Gloucestershire (UK). 500 pounds here, 300 there - a drop of water on a hot plate?

Founded in 1992, the charity has raised £1.25 million for Cheltenham General Hospital, Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and the Severn NHS Trust.

The money from the run will go to redecorate children’s wards at Cheltenham General and Gloucestershire Royal hospitals.
